Reflection Upon the Year
This school year has by far in my academic career. I been pushed mentally and emotionally in all of my classes especially advanced placement English language. In this class, I have developed a greater understanding the importance of language and as well as the impact of it on culture, thought, and identity. Indeed, the process of analyzing for rhetorical devices illuminated how language is utilized and manipulated to produce a particular effect, which leaves an everlasting impact on its audience. Indeed, language is a tool that expresses one's thoughtculture, and identity explicitly or implicitly. In all, this year defintely has been a long yet intriguing journey.
To start, my strengths and weaknesses this year has changed this year. This year I struggled with thorouly explaining my main point. Indeed, part of the reason for this issue was due to my own laziness, procrastionation, and focus on my other ap classes. Although I am working to fix this problem. I a, still having difficulties with making effective wrapbacks to my point. On the other hand, I did well on multiple choice quizzes because I usually can identify the author's purpose and reasonings for certain rhetorical devices. Also, I did pretty well with expanding my point, but had difficulty with solidifying it or wrapping back. In brief, this school year revealed new strengths and weaknesses as a writer, reader, and thinker.
Although this year has proven to be a difficult one, I experienced growth as a writer this year. With Mrs. Babcock guidance, I learned how to prewrite and plan my essays better. the SOAPT and T chart strategies defintely helped to give my writing more structure and allow me to properly express my ideas. Indeed, these methoods helped me to strneghten my analytical skills and breakdown rhetorical pieces better. As a result, I am more confident in my writing , and I know the steps that are necessary to become a better writer overall. In short, I acquired ne skills that have aided me on my writing journey.
Overall, I developed and matured into a better writer and student. This class showed how I do have the ability to do the impossible, such as writing a well written essay in 40 minutes. If I could have repeated my eleventh grade year I would defintely dedicate more time to writing, editing, and revising essays. I believe I would be an even beter writer now;however, I know everything happens for a reason. I now strive to improve and continue making myself an even better writer. All in all, I am grateful for all of my experiences.
